The Painter's Helper performs a variety of tasks involving preparation and coating of vehicles under the direction of an Automotive Painter.

Location:New Boston, TX

Position Requirements

Duties and responsibilities

The Technician I Paint performs a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: preparing surfaces for paint by sand-blasting, smoothing surfaces with sandpaper and pneumatic sanding devices, masking and covering portions of surfaces not to be painted, repairing minor damage on fiberglass and aluminum, and correcting any discrepancies prior to the application of coatings; assisting in coating surfaces with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices, removing old paint using liquid paint remover or scraper, and applying fabricated stencils. The Painter's Helper is responsible for ensuring that spray equipment is cleaned properly and maintained.

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum six (6) months of job related experience

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently

  • Able to deal with stressful situations while maintaining a professional attitude

  • Must be able to pass a Pulmonary Fitness test

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and background check

  • Must possess a valid Driver's license

Working conditions

  • Maintenance environment

  • Must be able to work all shifts as needed, shift times/ work weeks may be altered to meet customer requirements with minimum amount of notification

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts

  • Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions that include hot and cold conditions

  • Exposure to loud consistent noise levels

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to safely move about in a maintenance environment

  • Must be able to sit, stand, squat, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk, driver, climb or balance for extended periods during shift. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hand-to-finger movements, handle or feel objects, tolls or controls, and reach with arms and hands.Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • Must regularly wear a respirator

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

  • Must frequently be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

  • Regularly required to talk and/or be able to hear
